step2Our last tip will serve us well. Often, the thought of change or starting a new habit can be overwhelming. That’s why taking one step at a time is so important.

We often look at our situation and then look at the top of the staircase where our goal sets and think it is unachievable. Set your goal high and put it at the top, but then start on the bottom step and just take one step at a time.

Let’s say your goals include sleeping better, having more energy and decreasing your blood sugar levels. You notice in Tip #13 that exercise benefits all three of those areas. You read that 30 minutes of exercise a day is needed but right now you don’t feel like you have the time or energy to do 5 minutes.

Start on step #1: Plan a time in your day to exercise even if its only 5 minutes. When you get really good at exercising everyday for 5 minutes then take the next and exercise 10 minutes. Before you know it you will have reached the 30 minute mark. You may even find that you are sleeping better, have more energy and your blood sugar is normalizing. Why? Because you took that first step.

Which tip should you start with? Each of the tips will lead you towards taking proactive steps for you own health by choosing wellness strategies over the alternative. Each tip falls into one of the following categories:buildahealthyhomeandbodygraphic-700x700

  1. Nourish: Building a Healthy Foundation
  2. Support and Balance: Building a Strong Frame
  3. Clean and Protect: Maintaining a Healthy Home and Body

All you need to do to get started is pick one tip. It may be the tip that is the easiest to make the change or it may be the tip that you know would make the biggest difference. Which tip you choose is not as important as choosing one to start your journey towards health and wellness.

If you have taken the Wellness Quiz it may lead you to the tips you would most benefit from by starting in the area you scored the lowest. Each tip coincides with a question on the quiz. If you scored low on question #3 then you may want to start with Tip #3. If you took the Wellness Quiz before you started reading each tip and have started making some changes then go ahead and take the quiz again and see what areas you have already improved in.

The goal is to each day choose a more proactive lifestyle of wellness over living a reactive lifestyle when we fall below the wellness line. Why wait to get sick to start nourishing your body with REAL food? Why wait until you have gained 20 extra pounds to start exercising? Why wait until the toxic overload is showing through your skin, emotions and weight to be proactive?

Today is the best time to get started. What’s your next step?
